Scuba Diving Wales, South Wales, Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, West Wales 18th August 2021- Scuba diving conditions are looking fair for the next few days with off shore winds and general sea swells. The sea state should be manageable for experienced divers and looking better on Tuesday as the swell drops to low and the winds are predominantly off shore across the South wales region. Sites close to Cardiff, Swansea, Camarthen will all have the harder conditions and limited visibility and the West Wales sites such as Martins Haven and Site Brides bay the better conditions and visibility all round. The swell is due to pick up by the end of the week and may cause more turbulent diving conditions in the region.

High winds, big swells, strong currents, big rip currents all bad for diving on sites close to Cardiff, Swansea, Llanelli, Tenby and around the coastline. The better options would be in West Wales towards Martins Haven and St Brides areas. Need to look at diving in the inland sites in England for better protection and guaranteed diving. Low winds, flat swells and dry weather are all serving as suitable conditions across the region. The swell is down to 1 - 2 foot in South Wales and flat in West Wales so entrance and egress will all be good. The swell is however picking up from Sunday onwards even though the wind is relatively light to moderate. Water temperatures are very low so make sure the adequate thermal protection is used for all diving in all bodies of water.
